Boruto: Eida's Omnipotence, Explained (2024)

The Boruto manga recently saw fans get treated to a display of some of the most incredible abilities, known as Shinjutsu. These abilities were introduced through Amado, who went on to explain the existence of Shibai Otsutsuki. These abilities have, since then, gained incredible importance in the overarching plot of Boruto and chapter 79 of the story saw a mind-blowing plot twist when Boruto Uzumaki and Kawaki managed to switch roles.

Boruto took on the role of a rogue who was given a new life by the 7th Hokage, who he repaid by him. Meanwhile, Kawaki took on the role of the son of the 7th Hokage, Kawaki Uzumaki. All this was made possible through a godly technique that was used by Eida, Omnipotence.

The Origin Of Omnipotence

Boruto: Eida's Omnipotence, Explained (1)

Omnipotence is a godly technique, also known as Shinjutsu, that was used by the members of the Otsutsuki Clan. From what fans know, the first user of this technique was Shibai Otsutsuki. It is believed that the members of the Otsutsuki clan have, over the years, rewritten the memories of humans several times to their benefit. This ability was described by Momoshiki to be the strongest Shinjutsu of all as it is able to grant the deepest desires of the person to them. Simply put, Omnipotence is an incredible jutsu that can allow the user to alter anything they want and rewrite history itself, making things exactly how they want them to be.

Shibai Otsutsuki used this ability extensively, which is how Momoshiki was able to recognize this jutsu. Only those who possessed the powers of the Otsutsuki are immune to this Shinjutsu. However, somehow, Sarada Uchiha and Sumire from Boruto's class also seem to be unaffected by this technique. Why this is the case remains to be seen. According to Momoshiki, those who are immune to the powers of Omnipotence are the ones who suffer from it the most. After Shibai Otsutsuki ascended to godhood, his remains were left behind and Amado used them to create the abilities of Eida and Daemon. Thanks to his remains, Eida gained the powers of the Senrigan and Omnipotence as well.

How Eida Uses Omnipotence

Ada's version of Omnipotence is slightly different from the one that Shibai Otsutsuki used. For one, she has no conscious control over this ability. This is evident from the fact that Eida, who wanted to find true love, made everyone fall in love with her at first sight. Her charm ability was actually a manifestation of this Omnipotence Shinjutsu. Her deepest desire was to be loved and that is precisely why everyone around her immediately fell in love with her, except for those carrying the blood of the Otsutsuki. Until recently, fans had no idea that this ability was a Shinjutsu, however, now, it is beyond any doubt that Eida was using Omnipotence to alter everyone in her surroundings, however, she did so unintentionally since she is not a true Otsutsuki and, as such, does not have perfect control over Omnipotence.

In Boruto chapter 79, Eida took this step further when she channeled Kawaki's desire through her. She was able to rewrite history itself and alter the memories of everyone in the world. She made it so that Kawaki was recognized as the son of the 7th Hokage and made him Kawaki Uzumaki. Meanwhile, Boruto Uzumaki was made into a rogue who was taken in by the 7th Hokage and, despite that, turned his back on him and murdered him.

Other Users Of Omnipotence

The existence of Omnipotence opens up the door for several key plot points in the story. For one, this could mean that Shibai Otsutsuki might return in the future of Boruto. This is evident from the fact that Momoshiki claims that humans have had their history rewritten several times over the course of time. Shibai himself could have rewritten history several times and made it so that people believe that he isn't a threat anymore. Meanwhile, it could very well be true that Shibai is alive, and he could come into play sooner rather than later.

What's more, fans have also yet to see the true usage of this ability as Eida cannot channel it to its full extent. Only an Otsutsuki can control this ability to the fullest and none of those are present in the story at the moment. This technique belongs to Shibai Otsutsuki and he isn't around anymore. However, if Shibai were to return, fans would see a truly different level of Omnipotence being used. Eida was only able to channel a small piece of its power and Shibai could show everyone the true fear of this technique. It must be remembered that Omnipotence would allow him to program life and history itself as he wants and that is a scary ability, no matter which way fans look at it. It goes without saying that Omnipotence is the strongest ability to ever be introduced in Boruto and the Naruto series as a whole. What's interesting, however, is the fact that fans might get to see more of it as the story progresses.
