On June 16, 1952, the world was blessed with a beautiful baby girl that her parents named Linda Kay. Her dimple would be part of her trademark smile.
At an early age Linda participated and grew up in the CME Church where she united with the Hyson Chapel CME church in Winnsboro, TX. After relocating to Longview, Linda became a faithful member of the St. Mark CME where she remained a member until death.
Linda attended Winnsboro ISD and graduated from Winnsboro High School in 1970. From there, Linda set her goal to become a teacher and attended Tyler Junior College and graduated. Afterwards, Linda finished her undergraduate degree in elementary education at East Texas State University in Commerce, TX in 1974. Linda was not finished with her educational journey, and returned to East Texas State to get her Masters in Administration and Elementary Education.
In 1975, Linda worked for the Rice Common School District in Ellis County and 1976 she was hired as a third grade teacher in the Pine Tree ISD. Linda went on to work for Pine Tree ISD for 30 years, retiring in 2006. She had accomplished her goal of not only just being a teacher but someone that help her students to learn and behave in the classroom. She made lifelong friends among some teachers and students. After retiring, Linda could not get the teaching out of her blood and took daily and long-term assignments with Longview ISD until 2018.
Linda was equally as proud to become a Mary Kay Cosmetic Consultant. She enjoyed wearing her red jacket and talking Mary Kay. Linda worked hard at Mary Kay to please her customers. While she may not have pleased everyone, she went on to often lead her unit in sales. She proved that hard work and a gentle touch can pay off. She loved making other women look beautiful.
Linda joined the graduate chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha after moving to Longview. She was avid sports fan with tennis being her favorite. Until Covid shut the season down last year, you could bet that Linda was going to be up at 2 and 3 in the morning watching the Australian or French Open cheering, jeering, and clapping her hands. She knew every tennis player name and their records. Linda also loved her some LSU Tigers and depending on the Sunday, some Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints.
On January 14, 1974, Linda married the love of her life, Rodney Anderson in Quitman, TX. To this marriage, two handsome sons were born: Christopher (Michele) of Melissa, TX and Christian Brice (Lauren) of Dallas, TX; A granddaughter, Madisen Anderson of Sequin, TX;A sister-in-law, Betty Anderson, that assisted Linda.
Linda was preceded in death by her mother, Sammie Kay. She leaves behind her father, Osborn Hill; Brothers: George (Wanda), John, Aubrey (Alice); Sisters: Rachel (Terry) and Felicia (Clay) and a host of nieces, nephews, and true friends and family members.
Linda was a special person and her personality was exactly who she was. She accomplished more than she believed and more that others gave her credit for. For her husband and son, we knew the beautiful rose you were. As you rest now, and we miss you so much, we know that you are at peace.
