The Lexus Cup Pavilion is back, and this time, it's a breathtaking fusion of luxury and innovation! But what happens when traditional craftsmanship meets cutting-edge technology? Prepare to be captivated.
Brahman Perera, the design mastermind, believes in the power of subtle choreography. His philosophy revolves around the sensory experience of materials and the emotional connection they evoke. But here's where it gets intriguing: he emphasizes the irreplaceable human touch in design, contrasting it with technology's precision.
Perera's collaboration with Lexus continues as he curates the LANDMARK by Lexus for the second year. This three-story pavilion at the Melbourne Cup Carnival embodies the theme of 'synthesis,' blending Lexus's Takumi-inspired craftsmanship and personalized luxury.
Perera explains, "Synthesis is a delicate balance between the artistry of human hands and the accuracy of technology." This fusion is evident in the pavilion's bespoke textiles and intelligent systems, creating a harmonious environment.
The pavilion's design is an immersive journey, inspired by the Japanese concept of omotenashi, anticipating guests' needs. Visitors embark on a staged experience, beginning with a welcoming gifting suite and a mini bar on the first level. The culinary adventure continues with chef Josh Raine's restaurant, followed by entertainment areas, and a lounge offering breathtaking track views.
The dining experience is central, with tables inspired by Donald Judd's minimalism, illuminated by responsive lighting. Perera believes that food and design intertwine, creating a theatrical dining moment.
Collaborations with various artists add depth to the pavilion. Florist Simone Gooch's ikebana-style arrangements and collage artist Simone Esterhuizen's digital animations enhance the aesthetic. Moreover, sustainability is woven into every detail, from the walnut and sisal flooring to Kvadrat textiles, ensuring an eco-friendly and inviting atmosphere.
Perera's vision extends beyond aesthetics, aiming to evoke emotion and connection. He desires guests to feel the beauty of tradition meeting innovation and the warmth of human touch amidst technological advancement.
LANDMARK by Lexus 2025 promises an unforgettable experience, where craftsmanship, innovation, and hospitality intertwine, leaving a lasting impression.
