Bravo has announced despite having a less than enthusiastic reception to season 9, Below Deck is being renewed for a tenth season, as well as Below Deck: Mediterranean, which is coming back for a sixth season in the fall of 2022.
Over its nearly decade-long run, Below Deck fans have seen crew members come and go, but one person fans thought would be on the show until the end was Kate Chastain. As the chief stewardess, Chastain kept guests happy and made the charters run smoothly. But show fans still enjoy Kate and want to know who she is when she isn't working.
Her Career
According to her Bravo bio, yachting was not always Chastain's passion and came as more of a way to make money after college than a career path. Burleson became famous for his impressions of YouTuber and makeup mogul, Jeffrey Star, but now focuses on fashion content and on-the-street interviews.
Chastain finds her cousin just as funny as his over 400,000 followers and is proud of what he has done with his social media career, so far.
Her Dog
If Chastain loves one thing more than working on luxury yachts, it is her dog. Fans of the ex-chief stew know that her dog is her top priority, and she ensures that it is well taken care of, regardless of her work schedule.
During the first round of lockdowns due to Co-VID-19, Kate shared snaps of her dog and how they got her through the isolation process. The small dog is often seen on Chastain's lap while filming and entertains fans just as much as their owner.

She Hates Dancing
Even though she loves a good party, Kate revealed in an interview with The Sun that she isn't a fan of moving to the beat. She said," There was a yacht I was on, and this guy was like the Dutch Richard Branson. He made it mandatory that the crew go out to the clubs with him, and I dislike dancing very much."
Given her experience, Kate enjoys a more subdued party, like a luxurious dinner on a yacht, not a club.
She's Been Shipwrecked
Even though she has dealt with some of the worst crew members in Below Deck history, one of Kate's worst experiences on a ship had nothing to do with the show. In her interview with The Sun, Kate revealed that she was once stuck on an island for three days and had to be rescued.
She detailed the experience saying, "I was with a captain, we were taking the yacht from Miami to the Turks and Caicos Islands, and the captain was a bit careless..." Even though this experience would turn most people away from the industry, Kate continued as a yachtie.
She's A Floridian
Kate is a Florida girl born and raised and continues to live there with her dog, Halo. Even though the state sometimes gets a bad rap, Kate defends the Sunshine State for being a beautiful place that she loves living in.
She tweeted, "Walking my dog and would just like the world to know that despite the latest news reports, not all parts of Florida are crime riddled swamp land." Even though she no longer works on boats, Chastain still loves being near the water.
She's Dated A Woman
Back in 2016, Chastain found herself in a new relationship with a woman. In an interview with Bravo, Kate revealed that for the first time in her life, she was dating someone of the same sex.
She said, "I never, ever imagined myself dating a girl. I never was attracted to girls. So I'm a little caught off guard, but she's just a really special person..." While Kate doesn't identify as bisexual, she keeps an open mind regarding love connections.
