• Original Honda 900 F2 Engine
• Only fifteen produced
• Eligible for historic racing
As a company Harris are as famous as any within the motorcycle world. They have built many successful machines over the last 34 years including GP machines for the likes of Barry Sheene and the Yamaha factory team as well as producing complete road going bikes and countless products to make a motorbike do whatever it is you wish it to, but better.
The Harris brothers, Steve and Lester came from a background of top level endurance racing in the mid 1970’s. With the Harris motorbike being purely for the race circuit they gave in to demand and produced a road going version, the Magnum 2 was a bike for the serious rider and gave a balance of power and dynamics on the perfect stretch of road, plus being tuned for the track it gave the best of both worlds.
Believed that only fifteen of this particular model were produced they are a real rarity in the performance bike world.
The owner, a bike enthusiast for over forty years has owned this Harris Magnum 2 for just over two years.
Most of this time has been tweaking the bike, it has been comprehensively refurbished mechanically and Harris have confirmed the frame details (a copy of an email is supplied).
The bike comes with a comprehensive set of paperwork detailing invoices and general receipts for smaller items.
It has just passed first time an MOT which expires 15/9/2022 and has paperwork for a brand new set of Keihin carbs.
The bike has been kept as original as possible and does have some small cosmetic marks around it, the owner wishing to keep everything as original as possible.
The seat is in very good condition and sits on the bodywork perfectly, some decals could be replaced if the new owner wishes, or keep the bike in its current state to retain its authenticity. Tyres are in good order and the brake callipers have been refurbished, along with new pads and the front master cylinder has also been replaced.
The bike has its original alloy fuel tank (Harris no longer manufactures them) with Aircraft filler. The fork and wheels are Yamaha FZR 1000s. The bike also has its original Harris rear sets.
The Harris full exhaust system is fitted, and the framework is very clean, the swinging area and brackets are all Harris originals. WP rear shocks are fitted with braided hoses. There is also a Harris F1 fairing and seat available.
The bike is running a brand new set of Keihin CR33 carbs, which are now jetted exactly as per John Neate’s Harris Honda 900 (John Neate and his sons won the European classic superbike endurance in 2017).
The seller is still tweaking the needle height; the bike would benefit from an hour on a dyno to finish perfectly. It starts on the button, idles etc fine. All the standard jets are with the bike. It does not rev cleanly (hence some dyno time would be good).
The bike now runs a pair of racing batteries, in a new alloy tray running between the frame rails under the seat, to reduce weight, and move the centre of gravity forward (the original heavy battery would have been in the seat hump). The bike has fresh oil (Motorex 10W40) oil filter, and plugs,
A very rare endurance racer for the road, designed by a family of racing pedigree the Honda 900cc works perfectly with this out and out race bike and would grace the track, classic bike show or be perfect for those runs out on a perfect Sunday morning.
